(1-800-827-6364) Subject: Anyone flown the AIR F/X? I have a strong interest in acquiring the AIR F/X by Aerie Kiteworks but I would like to get a review before I plunge. I currently fly and am very familiar with the following kites: Tracer (.2400), Prism Eclipse, MEFM, & Pro Spectrum by Rare Air. These are the kites in my bag which get the most airtime so a comparison to one of these would be ideal. I fly almost exclusively at the beach in light winds. (I pack up when the wind is over 12 mph) There are many things about the AIR F/X that I like (Icarex sail, wrapped spars, 8.5 oz., quiet flight) but I don't need another kite in my bag that is simply going to take up space. I have a Prism Ion and a Chicago Fire Flame which serve that purpose well. Just wondering whether the AIR F/X would be a good complement to my arsenal. Any and all responses would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Mark. The mo' toys the mo' better. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 31 Mar 1995 06:51:04 -1000 From: bfk@aol.com (Bfk) Message-Id: <3lhbto$lfa@newsbf02.news.aol.com> Organization: America Online, Inc. There is a very special quality about kites designed, and built by the owner/designer. It flies and handles exceptionally well (marketing hype aside). I have flown 100's of stunt kites over the past 10 years and this is definitely one of the top models currently on the market. We cannot keep them in stock and they are one of our top sellers for '95. Ken of is trying to make them as fast as he can and he is several weeks backordered now. The response from customers who bought the kite from us has been extremely positive (I think those are the comments that really count). = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 31 Mar 1995 19:36:10 -1000 From: chlebo@aol.com (Chlebo) Message-Id: <3liooa$3rs@newsbf02.news.aol.com> Organization: America Online, Inc. Air F/X (will be flying when Ken gets caught up :) ) The A F/X is definately in the ranks of the MEFM but simpler, better for the "ham" hands, and the sweetest touch to the experienced flyer. Hope you like a sensitive kite! This one delivers! Get one if you can! I responded to a similar request before, that was about 6 months ago, and my love for the AirFX has grown since then. I have flown the MEFM and the Tracer so I will try to compare the AirFX to these two kites. First of all, I believe the AirFX is THE best low wind kite on the market today, I also abhor high winds(though I am trying to get used to them anyway) and nothing performs better in the low wind ranges, you have steady, smooth performance that will only surprise you in very turbulent wind. (which is rare in low winds, especially at the beach). The Tracer is a kite that loves to go straight, but the turns aren't all that tight or fast. While the MEFM spins like crazy, but tends to be a bit sensitive coming out of the turns (I may be wrong, I've only flown the MEFM a couple of times). The AirFX is the best of both worlds, plus a little extra. It spins tight and fast, but also comes out of a spin dead nuts accurate. It makes a mediocre flier look very smooth, and I never saw a person try it out without getting a big grin on their face. The AirFX just feels good. Especially if you like kites that tend to be sensitive to your control, requiring only a light touch to send it soaring or put it into a stall. Even with its sensitivity, it has a very solid feel, and it will track like a bandit. Your wondering if this kite will spend too much time in your bag? I can't speak for you, but I own 18 dual line kites, and I have only flown the AirFX for the past 6 months. It has helped me win a couple of trophies here and there. So maybe you should wander down to your local kite store and try one out, if they have any still in stock... = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
