Subject: Any serious flying near New Orleans?



There is a FINE kite club in the area called the Crescent City
Kitefliers (write 2809 Tugie St, Metaire LA 70003). 

I was privileged to attend one of their events in November. Great
group of people! Best food at an event that I can remember in
a long time.

And don't forget the Kite Loft at Riverwalk. The manager, Wil,
will put you in touch with what's going on real quickly. Nice
store -- but watch out for the bubble machine display near the
door. The floor is REAL sticky...

I am about to move to the New Orleans area from Northern VA. I was 
wondering if there are any active kite groups in the New Orleans area. 
How are wind conditions on the gulf of Mexico? Is there any wind there.

Good luck in New Orleans.  Best flying in the area is along Lake
Pontchatrain,(sp?).  Bonnable boat launch is along the lake and has ample
room.  Winds in summer are quite light.  The good news is that you are
only an hours drive from the gulf and great wind.  I ditto David that the
local club is great.  They fly on the second Sunday of the month.
