Message-ID: <1996Jun24.130037.82039@cc.usu.edu> Date: Mon, 24 Jun 1996 09:00:37 -1000 Organization: Utah State University During a trip to Grand Teton Nat. Park this past weekend, my friend and I decided to take advantage of an afternoon wind to try a little kite flying in the sagebrush. We both launched 6' flexifoils and it hadn't been a minute or two before I could see an aninal running toward us across the flats. It turns out that antelope are very curious and were attracted by the color and movement of our kites! In any of my previous encounters with antelope they would always run away, not toward me! One in particular ran toward a downed kite and when I replaced my flexi with a noisey Chicago Flame (an old kite with a stretched sail), it raced in again, getting within 20 yards or so of the kite. This guy just couldn't decide what was going on- it came in, drifted away, turned and watched, and came back repeatedly throughout the hour or so that we flew. Just something to file away under strange kite/animal stories- Don F. Logan, Utah FATAQ@cc.usu.edu = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
