The Edeiken Trophy for Kiteflier of the Year, is the highest honor bestowed by the American kiting community. It was named for Steve Edeiken, an energetic organizer and promoter who was active in both the AKA and KTA. Steve was killed in a tragic kite accident in Long Beach, Washington. The first trophy was presented in 1984.
