I need a new kite store to check. Thanks There's only one kite store in Annapolis, called "Kites Up and Away." Interestingly, it's almost directly above what used to "Kites Aweigh," the store run by Brooks Leffler before he ran off. Kites Up and Away is just off the town dock, in the historic part of Annapolis. The proprietor is a fellow named Joe Croot, a retired airline pilot. His wife runs a Native American art gallery in the same building. Joe is new to kiting, but learning fast. The store is fairly well stocked, with Flexi's, Rev's (I, II, Backtracker), Pro/Am (Smith, Regular, El Nino), Ultras, Skynasaurs (including the signature series), and so forth. He also has a reasonable collection of single lines, including a number of Joel Scholtz's kites. Joe's been stocking up on spare parts, and can usually be counted on to have spars (lots of Beman, SkyShark (I got a 36" IIIp there for $6.75), and I think AFC), bungee, knocks, vinyls, etc. If he doesn't have what you need, he can probably get it. I believe Joe is an AKA member merchant, but I'm not positive. He also gives discounts to KAK members (dunno about MKS). Jeff (who is, of course, unaffiliated, but a happy customer...) -- |Jeffrey C.
