It was founded by Will Yolen, a famous New York kite enthusiast who claimed to be the world champion fighter kite pilot. Will is quoted on the Kitelines T-shirt as saying, "hold your enemies at bay and keep issuing press releases!" A few years ago while staying with the Govigs in Maryland we discovered that they are the keepers of Wil's old WKA membership cards. Rick Curtis, Anne Sloboda, Ilene Atkins & myself signed up on the spot. The AKA as it is currently likely would not be suitable as an international organisation. It would be extremely presumptuous of it to declare itself as such. I usually am :). Have you noticed that they seem to have never featured kite flying on Star Trek ? I think this is remiss of them. To have ignored the interests and feelings of such a significant minority for so long is virtually sacrilegious by Star Trek standards. I think a protest is warranted. Since Star Trek is one of the fundamental planks on which US culture is based, I think it only fair that the next AKA convention should resolve to take the matter up with Bill himself ( thats *Clinton*, not Shatner, geez... ). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Final thoughts, as breath is taken, Fall to rhythm, and the Edge of pure obsession, Resting in the wind blown cradle, Nothing moves, the world is still... = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
