This is not to say there aren't other great events in the US...it's just that the convention is an event for kiteflyers put on by kiteflyers to showcase kiteflyers. The best of the best from all over the country (and the world) gather to share experiences and to teach everyone a little more about the sport. I can't think of another event where you can learn a little about applique >From Randy Tom or Jose Sainz, have Able Ortega or Dodd Goss help you with new dual line routine, learn a little about cellular design from Bobby Stanfield or Ron Gibbian and watch the best single and multi line fliers in the world show their stuff. It just doesn't ALL come together at any other event. Please don't misunderstand...There are super events all over the country throughout the year but my experience has been focus on other event seems more limited, ie, kite building in Junction which is about building or the beautiful festival at Longbeech which tends to focus on public displays or the Berkley kite festival which has competition as a theme. The convention brings all this together and a whole lot more. If you have a passion for kites and kite flying, don't miss it!!! John A. I enjoyed it more than the local competitions because there was room to fly without being a competitor. Every kite flier *needs* to attend atleast one (if not more). It's a definate must. Steve PS: In my book, Wildwood, the Smithsonian, Long Beach (Washington) would also fit into the "must" category (and I'm sute there are others, but those spring out). = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 20 Jun 1995 14:21:56 -1000 From: bckites@i-2000.com (David Klein) Message-Id: Organization: Big City Kite Co. We went out to Seaside (long plane ride, and I'm not fond of planes...I know how easy it is to crash and burn a kite) and drove to Wildwood (in less time). If you can get there. GO!! It is really fun seeing the diversity of kites and meeting all the different types of kite people. I enjoy all kites, single line, dual line, quad line, holding things to flutter in the air. And people who enjoy all the above and more go there. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Sat, 24 Jun 1995 08:59:12 -1000 From: coreykite@aol.com (Coreykite) Message-Id: <3shna0$nmm@newsbf02.news.aol.com> Organization: America Online, Inc.
