I just got off of the phone with Brooks Leffler. I finally remembered to ask Brooks about overseas memberships and the like. The non-800 number for the AKA is 408-647-8384. Brooks usually answers the phone from around 9am to 8pm Pacific time. If he isn't there, you can leave a message or send him a FAX. The basic membership fee is $20 per year for individuals. Overseas memberships have an extra charge for postage. The rates are $10 for surface mail (which takes forever), or $25 air mail. The membership directory and the newsletter "Kiting" are mailed to each member. Occasional other mailings are available. The membership insurance, which covers all members, is good for kite flying in the USA only. Other benefits include reduced prices on AKA publications and paraphenalia, 10 0iscount from participating retailers, 15 0iscount from Sasaki Kite Fabrications, and the above mentioned insurance. Brooks tells me that quite a few of the folks reading this group have joined. Thanks! But next time, mention that I sent you! ;-) -- Marty Sasaki Harvard University Sasaki Kite Fabrications sasaki@noc.harvard.edu Network Operations Division 26 Green Street 617-496-4320 10 Ware Street Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 Cambridge, MA 02138-4002 phone/fax: 617-522-8546 = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 16 Mar 93 13:00:33 GMT From: salanne@convex.csc.FI (Simo Salanne) Message-ID: <1993Mar16.130033.5579@nic.funet.fi> Organization: Finnish Academic and Research Network Project - FUNET Subject: Re: AKA Membership info... So, let your conscious be your guide.
