Appologies to both Marty and Steve--I mailed my application/check *the day before* the first posting about the membership drive, so I didn't mention either of your names. ;-) I've been a kiter for 21.5 of my 24 years. It's about bloody time I joined the club. I really felt like part of the kite community when the membership directory fell open in my hands and I saw the name of someone I know. I flipped the page, and there was another person I know. Of course, I also managed to find an error in the guide the first time I looked for something--I wanted the phone number to the Kite Loft in Baltimore (I was in a hurry to pick up a couple of sticks of AFC .2100 to repair a kite for the Smithsonian Festival). Strangely, the guide has the fax and phone numbers reversed *and* the fax number has been changed (for those curious, it's now (410)-659-5336). So anyway, I just felt like posting and saying that after all this time I finally joined. Now I need a sticker for my car. ;-) Jeff (who hopes to see lots of folks at the Smithsonian this weekend--he'll be hanging out with the rest of the KAK crowd--we'll be hard to miss. Trust me. ;-) -- |Jeffrey C. Burka | "Fairies are the perfect people to do this | |SAFH Lite [tm] | sort of work. Also your local kite shop should have applications on hand. There is an 800 number to call but I don't have it quite handy.. I know one of the other brothers here will have it. Nonetheless, the AKA membership allows you a percentage of discount at paricipating merchants, insurance at sanctioned events, and insurance during private flying time. In addition t a membership directory so that you can see who else is involved in youir area. Sounds good to me..
