This past week I was in Chicago visiting a friend (always nice to leave S. Florida and find other people suffering in 97 deg. heat) Yuck. In any case I had the chance to fly his Air FX and simply put, I was amazed. Now I haven't had the chance to fly a lot of higher end kites, but even with my limited experience or maybe because of it I thought this kite was great! It was fast, pulled well, was well made, flew in very little wind. I realy liked this kite. So now that I've decided to shell out some more money on kites any thoughts on the FX or other kites like it that I should consider. I'm not sure I would have done so well with another kite. It is the best tracking and cornering kite that I have ever flown. I have an MEFM, also a great kite, but that is slightly more geared for ballet than the Air FX. If you want a ballet kite, take the MEFM, just don't do anything to forceful as it is a fragile kite. The Air FX is the ultimate precision kite. Other than my DC, it is the kite that I've received the most enjoyment from for the amount paid. I highly reccommend it. Light as a feather (like 5 1/2ozs?) and I think it's rated for 0-8mph. If you wanted an ultralight, this thing is sweet! It's one of the most graceful kites I've flown. You can beat dealers down to about $260 on it. Expensive yes, but I think it's worth the price ;-) Just my opinion. Also , check out the Millenium/Aeon/Pro series from Jordan Air. All of these kites are well suited for alot of tasks and ALL are $225 and under. Ballet>indoor/outdoor and precision as well. Of a dozen or so really nice kites I own, I probably fly the FX close to 900f the time. It's fast, perfect tracking, turns incredibly quickly and without oversteer (unless you tune it for oversteer...), does a reasonable number of radical tricks, takes off from practically any position, etc. When backlit, it is one of the prettiest kites in the air as well; the broadseamed panels sparkle like a faceted gem. The SL is very fragile (framed in G-Force skinnies) and I've not yet mastered the moves needed to axel this flexible framed wonder reliably. The standard FX does a nice axel, turtles, does an easily controlled fly-away and fly-away axel, and many other tricks. Stalls and stabs are a cinch and quite easily controlled. I think the Air FX is probably the best all-around sport kite out there for my flying style. Everybody whose flown my mine (except one long-time Prism flier who couldn't handle the lack of oversteer) has come away saying "Wow, what a great kite." I don't think you would make a mistake in investing in one. Check out Dan Whitney's Gone with the Wind Kites (gwtw@delphi.com) or BFK (see the address FAQ) for an extremely good price on this beautiful sail. (Note: I have no affiliation with either Aerie Kiteworks, BFK, or Gone with the Wind Kites, I just know a good deal on a great kite when I see one...) It is a lot of money but as evidence by the testimonials, there are some that are worth every penny. Best advice is to fly before you buy. Would you buy a car without a test drive? What works for one person may not work for another. Shop around for the best price but don't forget support. Remember the kite is useless if you cannot get a replacement spar from the dealer you purchased it from. Hoy = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
