The 3rd Annual Afghani Fighter Kite Challenge sponsored by Basir Beria will be held on Sunday, March 24th, from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM at Castaic Lake, Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation area. This event is honoring the Afghani/Persian New Year. The fighters will be using the large Afghani fighter kites with "Tar" (the Afghani word for cutting line). Lake Castaic is approximately 10 minutes north of Magic Mountain (Valencia). Directions: 405 Fwy North. Pass Magic Mountain. Take the exit: Lake Hughs Road/Lake Castaic Park. Turn right. At the 2nd stop, turn left onto Ridge Route. Continue to the guard gate, there is a parking fee for the Parks and Recreation. The guard will be able to direct you to the fighter location.
