I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has tried this either sucessfuly or unsucessfuly. I am using a camera with auto wind and a geared motor with an eccentric to trigger the camera once every sixty seconds. Are there any methods to minimize the vibration that the camera recieves to reduce blurring? Of course I am tring to do this on a limited budget. I am sorry, but I do not remember its name. However, I do remember that I found it by going through Lord's Kite Homepage. Look under " other remote sites". They have a news letter, and show many examples of their work. I hope that you find it, you should enjoy it. [snip] : Are there any methods to minimize the vibration that the camera recieves to : reduce blurring? The method I use to reduce line vibration (the camera rig is attached to the kite line many feet below the kite) is to attach two large rubber o-rings (muffler hangers) to the kite line, one above (toward the kite) the rig, the other below. I use a short length of dowel to attach the o-rings: center the ring over the kite line, place the dowel partially across the top of the ring, pull the line up through the center of the ring and over the dowel, then push the dowel across so it rests on the top of the ring (I hope that makes sense ... I have trouble describing what's so clear in my mind's eye !). It's helpful to drill a hole in the dowel so you can tie the stick and o-ring together, and tie the whole thing to the kite line because it will fall off into the very tall grass if your line goes slack. If you've heard your kite line singing because of the tension (I forget the title of the song ... sorry I'm in a weird mood ;-), well, put these little gizmos on it, and it will quiet way down. Reduce blurring by using faster film and a camera with as fast a shutter speed as possible. >From the rec.kites general FAQ: ---begin excerpts---- The Aerial Eye A quarterly newsletter devoted to kite aerial photography, published by the Kite Aerial Photography committee of AKA.
