Either >LEDS >or bulbs. Well T, I haven't found a way with LEDs or bulbs but I do have a way to light up at night. I use the Cyalume novelty necklaces strung together and slip them in the spar pocket. It will make the whole kite glow softly. Couple this with the quiet flight of a Flexi at night and the UFO people come out to watch. The local police were sent to investigate one night to see "what was up there". When they found out it was me, they stayed and watched. Fly Safe. Good winds. In case you are not familiar, these are flashing LEDs mounted in a plastic case and sold to bikers and runners. I have a single light clipped to one spar end twice. IN high wind it works, but in low wind the balance is so bad the kite will want to turn toward the light. I would advise a symetric arrangement attached to each spar end. If you do choose the vista lights, they now make a very small one (3 cm in diameter) powered by watch batteries. it is much lighter and a bit cheaper than the classic Vista bike light. Another fun trick is to run some thin luminescent tubes partway into the spar pockets. Use cable ties (wire ties) to affix each tube to a spar end. The I flight the Flexi appears to have antennae coming off each end. It's a nice effect. Philip Philip Chase Ask me about the Power Kiting Web Page. pbc@ufl.edu ------------------------------------ 904-378-6893 Have any good power kiting info? I would FAX: 904-392-3760 like to put it on the power kiting page. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Tue, 27 Sep 1994 01:55:25 -1000 From: seanl@harlequin.co.uk (Sean Lange) Message-Id: Organization: Harlequin Ltd, Barrington Hall, Cambridge UK Subject: Re: Adding lights to flexifoil I've not flown a flexi at night, but I have with revolutions and dual line stunters. I use the small snap and glow lights used by fishermen for night fishing. They're very small and light-weight but very bright and reasonable cost (about 40p each) - typically they last a full evenings flying and some were still glowing next morning. They are even light enough to use on an indian fighter I have. Flying was near impossible since with only one light on the nose it was very difficult to determine the direction of flight. Does anyone have experience of putting a bank of LEDs on a kite. I saw a thing called a night stick (I think) at the Bristol Kite Fest earlier this year, but would be interested if anyone has some first hand experience. -sean = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
