There's a rumor in Europe that AKA has published a new sport kite competition rules. Some questions about it: 1. Is it just a reprint of 3rd Edition, or does it have changes? (Which are major changes?) 2. Is STACK referenced as an organization, which has approved new rules? 3. What kind of copyright statement it has? The AKA Sport Kite Committee has approved the final changes to the current book for the 1995-96 season. These changes will appear in the September/October issue of AKA's "Kiting" magazine and go into effect in this country October 1, 1995. Once "Kiting" comes out, we will post the new changes on rec.kites. We (AKA) have forwarded the rule changes approved by our committee to STACK in hopes that they will be accepted by STACK as well; we also expect some additional changes to be suggested by STACK. We plan to publish a new book over the winter, hopefully as a joint effort between AJSKA, AKA, and STACK. When that book is published: >> Some questions about it: >> 1. It will probably be an updated statement that takes into account advances in communications technology. We think it's important that kitefliers should be able to go anywhere in the world (as they are apt to do) and know what to expect at a sport kite competition, and to this end, we hope AKA, AJSKA, and STACK can pull this book together and publish something we are all happy with.
