A small flat lithium battery (of the kind used for calculators ) a resistor and some light 
emitting diods would illuminate the kite for night flights.  check out your local electronics 
flea market for LED's.  Even in commercial retail outlets that supply such items in bubble 
packs you may pick up a pack of assorted colours for less than 3 US$.  
     Bats with orange glow will be just in time for Holloween.
