Hi all, I'm still looking for a beginner kite : strong and easy to fly. So according to Esben's ideas, I have build a Sky Dart clone. The plan I started from had a mistake : the wing tip is about 4 cm. nearer the spine than on the original, the leading edge remaining of the same length. Anyway I saw kites build on that plan that flies pretty well. I wanted to try something special, so I curved the trailing edge, added a leach line and curved the leading edge (about 2cm. in the middle). Bad idea : my kite doesn't fly :-((. In fact it takes off easily, but when I try to turn, the kite falls from the sky. It goes in straight line, doesn't pull and I'm unable to steer it and avoid the crash. Playing with the bridle I managed to avoid the crash, but I must start my turn from the highest point in the sky and i just avoid to touch the ground. The kite is almost unsteerable i-e doesn't reply to command high in the sky you can initiate a sharp turn but when it has started to turn it goes straight. I Hope that you will understand what goes on from my bad English description, thanks in advance for any suggestion. Good Winds. Philippe, Well my suggestion is to take heart and start over. There are very few of my kites that fly the way I wanted them to the first time....so.. I nearly allways build the first one with the understanding that it will be the one that I learn on...then I build the kite that I originally wanted. :-) Just make sure that you have learned from the first and try not to make the same mistakes. BTW, some of my mistakes are very nice wall art. : -- : Philippe Lepez (CP 125), | | Good kite : Universite Libre de Bruxelles, | Email: plepez@ulb.ac.be | + Good wind : 50 av.
