Int. kitefliers Meeting, Romo I have just returned from this year's Romo festival organized by the Danish Kite Club. Romo is normally cold, stormy and wet, so this year's festival made quite a change with warm weather and little/no wind on Saturday and fairly warm weather and 5-7 m/s on Sunday. Really nice ... you could wear your T-shirt all day. While the weather was all new for Romo, the kites were mainly yesterdays news. I did however get a chance to fly the new vented Tramontana from HQ. Ralf from Flic-Flac was kind enough to lent me his brand new. It has a 6 mm Cfk Exel frame, like the standard version, but the center black panel and the black panel closest to the wing tip has been replaced by mech. This takes a large piece off the surface area and wind range goes up to about 12 m/s. It was very nice to have all the germans come up to me and ask "did you make that yourself", and be able to answer "no that will be out from HQ soon"!! It flies great. I am *not* the worlds greatest stunt kite flyer, but the Vent. Tramo. preformed very well. It has *very* little pull! I was able to stall it and side slide it all over the window in 6 m/s, and someone more skillful than I would have been able to a lot with this kite. Price should be just under the standard Tramo. Ralf also told me that HQ has a UL Tramo with P31 and Skyshark (I think) on the way. Also on Romo I picked up what HQ calls the "Indoor-Kite", but this kite should have been named Baby Tramontana. It has 93 cm wingspan, 2mm Cfk frame and P31 Icarex sail, price DM 98 (app. $67/#42). I have not had a chance to fly it yet, but it sure is a nice little toy. I did also get a chance to fly (strugle with) Windtool's 6.5 m2 Mosquito, which is from the new eliptic (sp?) Windtools serie. It it fourline crossbridle and comes in two more sizes 4.5 and 9 m2. The 6m2 is a very powerfull kite, and I found it easy to control, it has a large window, and can be made to stand still or side slide or wing tip stand. In 5-6 m/s it provided alot of traction, and later when we went buggying it proved to be very fast. Well I did see something new after all, and Romo was better than ever ... not least because the weather was better than ever before. ------------------------------------------------------ | Ken Friis Hansen | kfh@login.dknet.dk (home) | | Rugmarken 73 | | | DK-8520 Lystrup | | | Denmark | | | +45 86 22 59 11 | | ------------------------------------------------------ = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 11 Sep 1995 07:28:39 -1000 From: flicflac@login.dknet.dk (Ralf Dietrich) Message-Id: <777LmSUOpBYH079yn@login.dknet.dk> Organization: DKnet / EUnet Denmark - Login Tjenesten Subject: Re: 6. This takes a large piece off nope, it is not the black panel closest to the wing tip, it is the white one. Out of the wing, you get this parts on a vent. Tramontana: colored panel, mech panel, black panel, white panel, mech panel normal is: colored panel, white panel, black panel, white panel, black panel >Ralf also told me that HQ has a UL Tramo with P31 and Skyshark (I think) on the >way. i wish it would be Skyshark one day - but right now, it is only Ultra-RCF 6mm. The wight is something about 298gr, windrange from 0.5 - 4 Bft And there is a third Tramontana edition: Tramontana Competition High Performance. Icarex, g-force-UL, weight 303gr, windrange from 0.5 - 5.5 Bft Both of the UL4s with Bow-Line CU Ralf = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
