(1-800-827-6364) Subject: 300 Stunt Kites Need New Home I have been offered a huge private collection of stunt kites (over 300). Most of them are older models framed in fiberglass. Models include: Action, Top of the Line, Flexifoil, Liteflight, SpyroJet,Windwalker, Force 10, Chicago Fire, A Roar A, Wolfe Designs, Quadrifoil, Revolution, and many other models. There are some real gems in the collection with many signature models. They range from almost new (flown once or never flown to well used). These kites are in desparate need of a new home, quick! The current owner is moving (next week) and does not want to haul them across the country. I have been asked to purchase the entire lot but there is no way I can store them all and I already have a lot of kites. The proposal or offer will go as follow: Does anyone wish to buy part or all of the collection and at what price? (Make offer, any reasonable offer will be given serious consideration) Keep in mind that this is sold as is sight unseen? Shipping will be arranged separately. Does any organization (AKA?) wish to receive these kites (all or part) as a donation and will be willing to offer a statement recognizing the value of this collection? The organization will be responsible for paying shipping cost. I think it would be a natural addition for the auction out in Tulsa this year. A good way to raise some money. Any other AKA Directors out there who feel like me? Anybody willing to split the shipping to get them out to Tulsa? I can't afford anything in the big auction but might be able to handle some of these. The signature models could bring some decent bucks. It sounded like they could be had in return for an appropriate tax deduction. Its not so easy. Since there are 300 kites I assume their value is over $5,000. If this is the case then there has to be an independent appraisal form signed by someone not connected to the donor or the AKA. The appraiser also has to sign a form that goes on the donors tax return. One more problem is that when the AKA "sells" the kites it has to tell the IRS how much it got for them if the sale happens within 2 years :-( If you need help with this let me know I do this for a living when not flying kites Howard -- I may be growing older, but I REFUSE to grow up!!! = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 11 Aug 1995 00:29:00 -1000 From: carolyn.moore@ptinfo.com (Carolyn Moore) Message-Id: <950811192841213@ptinfo.com> Organization: HCS/PTInfoSys, Kansas City Subject: Re: 300 Stunt Kites Need New Home >Subject: Re: 300 Stunt Kites Need New Home J>>Does any organization (AKA?) wish to receive these kites (all or part) as >>a donation and will be willing to offer a statement recognizing the value >>of this collection? Does anybody have any rare, unusual, or one-of-a-kind items for the 18th Annual AKA National Convention to be held in Tulsa, OK the last of September. Every seasoned flier has experienced the thrill of showing someone how to fly, and seeing the twinkle in their eye and the grin from ear to ear, as they experience for the first time the joy of flying with two feet on the ground. To further enhance this experience the AKA distributes literature, educational information, and service to promote kiting to the membership and the general public. The Great Auction is a way that they generate monies to offset the expense of these programs. Please continue to support an organization the we all love, the AKA, by giving a donation. It can be a pin and Tshirt from a festival or a one of a kind of your own creation. For more information call.
