I wonder what the difference is between 2 and 4 line controlled power kites? What are the advantages and disadvatages with the the kites, what sizes are are good for power kiting (my weight 85 kg). best regards Erik Vannman erik.vannman@helsingborg,se = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Mon, 2 Oct 1995 18:01:55 -1000 From: Steve Bateman Message-Id: <44qcjj$aoe@hole.sdsu.edu> Organization: San Diego State University Subject: Re: 2 or 4 line control for buggy riding? And in the catagory of framed two line kites, -can be landed and lanched easily -possible to go directly downwind -easy to do loops to go faster Hope this helps. They tend to move across the sky slightly slower but do generate tremendous amounts of power. Generally the quad line kites are also flown on shorter lines. Dual lines, on the other hand, are generally more efficient, generally fly on much longer lines, are quicker across the window but are somewhat more difficult to learn to fly well. The size kite depends on the wind and the skill of the pilot. My weight is about the same as yours and the rules I use for buggys calls for a 2 meter kite in winds of 40-50 kph, a three meter kite in 30-40 kph, a five meter kite in 20-30 kph (All the above are quad lines) and a 7.5 meter dual line in winds of less than 20 kph. Please understand these are only MY personal guidlines...a great deal depends on the skill of the pilot. Some very experienced fliers can handle a ten meter kite in thirty kph winds...I cannot do so safely. Hope this answers some of your questions...enjoy!!
