I,m looking for information about grips for 2 and perhaps 4 line kites. The reason for this is to develop a new kind of grip wich will have the following caracteristics: - easy to lengten line to 40-45 meters - while kiting, easy adjusting length of line (for compensating stretch and different length starting kiting) The line it will use will be dyneema or spectra. This will be for my study Industrial Product Development, so if anyone has something to send me please do. If anyone knows any sites where i can get more info, please let me know also. thanx = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Date: Fri, 15 Sep 1995 09:14:27 -1000 From: John Ruggiero Message-Id: <43cjaj$feh@mail.techg.com> Organization: TechGnosis Subject: Re: 2-line kites mario konst wrote: >I hope this will work but here it goes. > >I,m looking for information about grips for 2 and perhaps 4 >line kites. > >The reason for this is to develop a new kind of grip wich will >have the following caracteristics: > > >- easy to lengten line to 40-45 meters Generally, one would use lines of fixed length and lay them out before launch. If you need to make the lines slightly longer (1-5 meters) you can attach a set of extension lines. I have seen this done for team flying. >- while kiting, easy adjusting length of line (for >compensating stretch and different length starting kiting) I have seen a "Micro Adjust" set of handles that allows you to compensate for line differences. > >The line it will use will be dyneema or spectra. > >This will be for my study Industrial Product Development, so if >anyone has something to send me please do. > >If anyone knows any sites where i can get more info, please let >me know also. Take a look at Peter Powel heavy duty handles. They fit this spec. I'd like them to have more comfortable handles - with a grip more like a sky-claw. Also look at the kite-ski system, which holds both lines on *one* drum so that you can release both lines in sync. The desire to vary the lenght is rare. It's handy when you want to fly indoors or in some other confined area, and it has specialist applications in sailing, when you can't lay out the lines, but otherwise, it's only "members of the public" that start with short lines and let them out as they fly.
