I shall be going to Las Vegas and then on to Boston (+surrounding area). I have just had a brochure about Boston and noticed there is to be a Kite Festival there in May - Does anyone know when and where it is ?? The Boston Kite Festival has been ging on for many years (at least 20) and is usually held on the second or third Saturday in May. The site is Franklin Park in Boston. The festival is an interesting mix of local folk flying kites with many of the cheap, plastic deltas being towed behind gleefully screaming children. Amid these are usually beautiful home made kites from folks from Asia and from the Carribean. I've seen centipede kites and large Burmuda kites. The more experienced flyers usually avoid the Boston Kite Festival because of the hoards of children and cheap kites. It is too bad, because you can go and have a good time. The other event in the Boston Area is Kites Over the Pike, in Framingham, which is about 20 miles west of Boston. I don't know if it will be held in 1995 or not, the Bose Corporation, which has been a loyal sponsor of the event, is erecting buildings in the area where the flying usually occurs. The East Coast has all sorts of kite events in May. The Mid-Atlantic Stunt Kite Championships is held in Ocean City Maryland during the second weekend in May.
