Dr. Bob Brown of Cal State San Diego chose the music for Voyager.  He is a
author of a highly respected doctoral dissertation on mrdangam.

Incidentally the medium was a copper phonograph record (played with a needle!).

This is a good excuse for the rasikas to check out the famous NASA website:
http://www.nasa.gov. Find the searchable database and enter "voyager music."
They have a list of all the music on the record.  The Kesarbai piece is the
only Indian item.

-Jef Feldman

Thanks Jef!  By the way, the website for Dr. Brown's organization, the Center for World Music, is at www.centerforworldmusic.org
