Brightness: 4 Alt: Description: Faint but easily visible when comparing this small nebulous group to a nearby similar group without nebulosity. The reflection nebula vdB 1 is illuminated by 3 bright (mag. 9) stars. At first the nebulosity seemed to be uniformly distributed around the stars but with averted vision it seems to be a bit extended NW-SE. Brightest near the stars. A sharp and thin dark lane runs between the stars, oriented NW-SE. This was seen only with difficulty but was later on confirmed on POSS I.
