Object: Gaseous neb + cluster NGC 2174-5 Constell: ORI RA: 06h 09.8m Decl: +20° 19' Epoch: 2000 Mag: - / 6.8m Size: 40x30' / 18' Type: E/IV 3 p n Observer: Jere Kahanpää Obs. place: Jyväskylä, Finland Date/Time: 14./15.10.1993, 03.25 Telescope: N 205/1000 Magn: 40x Filter: O-III Field: 83' NE Lim.mag: 5.5m Background sky: 2-3 Seeing: 2 Weather: MW faint. Brightness: 3 (neb.) Alt: 45° Description: Without the O-III: a very rich field, no clustering evident. Maybe somewhat brighter stars in the area of the neby. Neby -75: Diam. about 20'. Round, slightly brighter near the illuminating (?) star. A dust band was suspected cutting through the northern fourth of the glow. This is faintly visible in the drwaing (better when viewed with black background). The SW edge seems a bit better defined than the rest, but the difference is very small. Maybe some dust here too?
