NeXTanswers is a collection of answers to commonly asked technical questions about NeXT Computers.  Topics covered include system administration, programming, and NeXT applications.  When incorporated into Digital Librarian, NeXTanswers supplements the existing NeXT documentation. 

We recommend that you obtain the latest release of NeXTanswers and have it installed on the NeXT computers at your site.   There are two versions of NeXTanswers: a complete set, and a monthly supplement for those who already have the previous month's complete set.  The complete set is called 93_winter_NeXTanswers.tar.Z and occupies 664 Kb of disk space.  The supplement is called 93_winter_NeXTanswers_Supplement.tar.Z, occupies 82 Kb, and contains files that are new or changed since the Fall 1992 release.  When the Winter 1993 release is installed and indexed, it occupies about 2.41 Mb.

The documentation for NeXTanswers now resides in a separate tar file on the archive servers called 93_winter_NeXTanswers_docs.tar.Z.  Included are the files INSTALL.rtf (the installation guide), README.rtf (the user's guide), and CHANGES (the list of differences between the current and previous releases).  This tar file should be downloaded first, so you can follow the instructions in INSTALL.rtf to complete the installation for either  the complete set or the supplement.

Purdue also maintains an email-based archive server, for those without ftp access.  Send a message consisting of "help" to archive-server@cc.purdue.edu. If the "From:" line in your message header will not be in Internet format (e.g., name@site.edu), include a line in your message like "path name@site.edu" or "path wellknownsite!yoursite!yourname@uunet.uu.net".  Note that neither name@site.bitnet nor name@site.UUCP will work.
