iryo is the new brand name for the high speed trains that FS Trenitalia started running in Spain in direct competition with the Spanish Renfe. These trains are Italian ETR1000 trains. Technically iryo is a company of its own. The company is jointly owned by the Italian state-owned railway company Trenitalia, the Spanish regional airline Air Nostrum, and the Spanish infrastructure investment fund Globalvia. The train, in Italy called Frecciarossa 1000 was built by Alstom and Bombardier in a factory which now is known as Hitachi Rail Italy. These trains have been in use since 2013. They have a theoretical maximum speed of 400 km/h but only up to 300 km/h is used in service. The trains are 202 meters long and have a power rating of from 9,8 to 10,0 MW.
