Legislation overturning this regulation is expected to pass, but President Bush has promised to veto it. Incredibly, Bauer now fears, there may be some trouble in upholding his veto. Planned Parenthood has spent $5 million on advertising in the past two weeks, he says, to convince Congress to overturn the regulations. That is twice as much money as the FRC's entire annual budget. Please call your Congressman and both Senators and tell them: - You support President Bush on this issue, - You don't want any of your tax dollars going to help convince women and girls to get abortions, and - The issue is *not* whether women are entitled to be informed of all the options regarding their pregnancies. To be fully informed, they would have to be told how early their unborn baby's heartbeat, brain waves, etc. start. Planned Parenthood and the other abortion providers have always and continue to oppose telling women these facts. All Congressmen's and Senators' offices can be reached via the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121. I cannot urge you strongly enough to make your voice heard in Washington. Please call or write, as this critical bill is before the congress presently, and your voice needs to be heard! If the promised veto for this bill is upheld, then abortion providers like Planned Parenthood will be forced to change their operations, or operate without federal funding. [ If you would like to write, I'd be happy to send you a form letter that you can edit to your satisfaction, just contact me. - steve ] Congressional Representatives can be reached at the House Office Building, Washington, DC 20515 Senators can be reached at the Senate Office Building, Washington, DC 20510 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Also before congress is the Smith-Mollohan-Coats bill (HR1490) requiring parental notification for minors who are seeking abortions. Under present law, minors are required to have parental permission to have their ears pierced, but not to have an abortion! Please inform your representatives your support for the passage of this bill, and request that as your representative, their vote to be in favor of it. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Quote of the month: If you ever need to remember where Planned Parenthood is comming from, just remember what their founder stated as to an infant's rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness:" ``The most merciful thing a large family can do to one of its infant members is to kill it.'' Margaret Sanger, Founder of Planned Parenthood Submissions for "Quote of the month" are dearly sought. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - end v1n7s
